All employees of the government of Makueni county will now work under performance contracts in order to improve service delivery.The employees, including the entire cabinet, Chief Officers, Directors, and chairpersons of various authorities under the County Government signed the performance contracts on Monday, in an event presided over by governor Kivutha Kibwana and his deputy Adelina Mwau.

THE Ndengu Revolution roared on yesterday with Governor Kaluki Ngilu launching new tractors to plough farms for vulnerable residents. This brings to 17 the fleet of tractors in the county deployed to help poor farmers prepare their farms ahead of the October - December rains.
Speaking  at Mrs. Makaa Kimanzi’s farm in Malondo village in Mutonguni Ward of Kitui West sub county, Governor Ngilu asked farmers in villages across the county to form committees that will help in identifying poor farmers who would be given priority in the programme.
“While wealthier farmers can access tractor services from private owners, there is need to help the poor actualize food security in the county”, she said.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has pledged to strengthen the agricultural and livestock sectors to boost food security and wealth creation in the county. Noting that the five pillars in her development manifesto were interlinked, Ngilu said water, agriculture and livestock development were key determinants of success in the other pillars of healthcare, women empowerment and wealth creation.

Governor Kivutha Kibwana has today launched 27,000 Early Childhood Development new curriculum text book at Mavindu primary school, Mbooni subcounty. The textbooks, valued at Sh 6.1 million, will be distributed to 1,350 ECD centres across the county. Governor Kibwana also commissioned two ECD classes at Mavindu ECD centre.

At least 150 young people from Makueni County will undergo an intensive three months agribusiness training at the Miramar International College, Nairobi. The 150 are representatives from the 30 wards, awarded scholarships by the German International Development Agency (GIZ), through the County government and KCB foundation.

The ambitious Kitui County Health Insurance Cover that will offer affordable health care to an estimated 270,000 households of Kitui County has finally kicked off. The launch at Katulani Level IV hospital now places Kitui County in the annals of history as the second county after Makueni to offer her residents affordable healthcare in the country.

A cross section of leaders in Kitui County today blamed the fatal road accident that claimed the lives of 10 primary school pupils in the area on the bad state of the Nairobi-Garissa highway. Addressing mourners during the requiem mass for the victims of the grisly road accident at St. Joseph's Junior Seminary, Mwingi,  the leaders asked the national government to ensure the road which connects Nairobi to Somalia was built to international standards in order to cater for the busy traffic along the road.

The High Court today dismissed a case challenging the closure of Mount Kenya Wholesalers by the County Government of Kitui. Justice George Odunga, sitting in Machakos threw out the case terming it as incompetent. Justice Odunga said the applicant in the matter- Mr. Simon Mwangi had distorted material facts about his status in the matter, misleading the court to grant him leave to proceed with the application.

Kitui County under the leadership of Governor Charity Ngilu, has made a ground-breaking with the first ever successful brain surgery. The surgery, performed  last Friday, was to remove a blood clot in the brain of the patient, who was to unable to raise funds to get it done at Kenyatta Hospital.
