Governor Charity Ngilu today urged the clergy to encourage their congregations to adhere to the regulations aimed at fighting Covid 19 pandemic.
Speaking to the clergy from Anglican Church Kenya (ACK)Kitui Diocese, Governor Ngilu reiterated the centrality of the church in the community and entreated them to be steadfast in praying for not only the County Government but also the entire population of Kitui County.
"The church doors might be partly open, but your prayers know no boundaries. Continue encouraging us through prayers."
Further, Governor Ngilu called upon the clergy to embrace and support one another even as COVID-19 continues to claim lives of many staunch members of the congregations worldwide.
The Governor called on the clergy to take the frontline position towards alleviating the current poverty situation in Kitui County.
"Please don't sit back, take first position in ensuring we remove our people from poverty. We can't allow our people and ourselves to be the benchmark of poverty," she said.
Pooled from the across the 160 ACK parishes in Kitui County, the clergy underscored their unending support towards the county Government. Further they louded the Governor for her efforts in the war against Coronavirus through KICOTEC.
The deacons were lead by the Right Reverend Gideon Nzoka, Bishop in-charge of the Kitui Diocese, and were congregated at the church's Kitui Diocese.
