The Anchor
The Anchor is a monthly publication that is based in Machakos, Kenya.
It circulates from Nairobi and is read widely in all districts of Lower Eastern Province, that cover Ukambani. It is published in English.
The Anchor is a newspaper that was founded in 2007 based on the theme of enhancing Good Governance. As such, it pays specific attention to how public resources are used. It focuses on use of the Constituency Development Fund(CDF), Local Authority Transfer Fund(LATF), the Free Primary Education funds and the entire range of Kenya's devolved funds. It goes a step further to scrutinize what elected leaders and government officials do as they carry out their mandates.
The Anchor is published by The Anchor Media Services. Mr Martin Masai, a career journalist who rose through the ranks as a Correspondent, serving in Daily Nation, the defunct Society Magazine and later at the Kenya Times where he left in 2003 as Managing Editor, serves as Editor.
Mr Masai is also a founding Editor of The Link, another Kenyan instrument of Good Governance. He also served The Kenya Scouts Association as Assistant Chief Commissioner and as International Commissioner till 2003.
