KCSE: Machakos Girls Humbles National Schools

Humbles National Schools

MACHAKOS Girls has shown the way in a very telling manner.
After being skipped in the creation of National Schools, the school has sent a message that one does not need to be a National School to emerge at the top.
It attained that feat in last year’s KCPE and was tops in the region, outsmaring National Schools in the county- Machakos School and Kathiani Girls.
This performance triggered a prolonged celebration over the school’s sterling performance in last year’s KCSE results.
The students broke into dance after learning the school beat their perennial academic archrivals, Machakos Boys high school to emerge tops in Machakos County and were in the celebration led by their Principal Ms Flora Mulatya and teachers of the school. Machakos Boys was ranked 33rd among the top national schools.
The school posted an improved mean score of 9.238 in the 2012 examination compared to previous year’s mean score of 8.8 to beat Machakos Boys high school which attained second position with a mean score of 9.1.
Later the school community which included parents was led in thanks giving prayers by pastor Wesley Nguu of Nairobi Pentecostal church to thank God for helping them achieve their dream of improved performance.
The school scored 39 As where four were plain and 35 minuses. The girls also registered 55 B+,53 B plain, 32B-,17 C+,2C plain and 3 C-.
The principal attributed the school success to God’s will, hard work by both the students and the teachers and the unequivocal support from parents and other stakeholders.
“We expected improved results because all of us had prepared adequately and faced the examination with a lot of confidence and determination”, said Mulatya.
She thanked the 2012 KCSE candidates for the sterling performance saying they had flown the schools flag to the skies.
The celebrations spilled over to Machakos town as jubilant Machakos Girls high school teachers took to the streets to celebrate the school’s good KCSE results.
Screams of joy and ululations rent the air in the entire town as Mulatya led teachers in singing and dancing in the streets to mark the historic event in the school’s history.
