The High Court today gave a company that dumped poisonous asbestos waste in land associated with the family of a former Chief Justice Kitili Mwendwa in Kitui County a 15 day ultimatum to remove and dispose of the poisonous cargo currently quarantined at Kitui Stadium.

Man allegedly killed nephew to earn insurance benefit

 A top insurance executive- Mr Evans Masaku Kasyoki today denied murdering his nephew to earn a Sh 9m insurance claim. The suspect linked to controversial murder of Eric Makau in 2014 appeared before Machakos High Court Judge Justice George Odunga. Mr Kasyoki denied the allegations of killing the late Makau in order to benefit from the life insurance claim.

Kiu land owner warns grabbers

Fraudsters are invading  Yoani Farm owned by Stanley & Son Limited. Yoani Farm is located near Salama on the road to Ngaamba/ Kiu.  in Makueni County. The imposters aim at grabbing it from its owners.
The grabbers, posing as genuine owners of the land are mobilizing unsuspecting citizens, purporting to sale shares of the property that would result in the ownership of parcels of the land owned by Mr Robin Stanley.
The grabbers are taking cue from a style that begun in Mavoko where they have been targeting land belonging to East African Portland Cement. They have also set their eyes on land belonging to ICIPE on Konza plains and have been pushed further down the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway in search of land that they can use to con a land thirsty middle class.
Today, Mr Stanley who is the Managing Director of Stanley and Son Limited put has up a Caveat Emptor, warning the grabbers to keep off the land or face legal consequences. The following is the entire notice.

STANLEY & SON LIMITED

THE PROPERTY IS NOT FOR SALE

TAKE NOTICE that STANLEY & SON LIMITED (the Company) is the registered and absolute owner of all that parcel of land known as Land Reference Number 1748 situated North East of Kiu Trading Centre in Makueni County (the Property)

It has come to the attention of the Company that certain person(s) are purporting to have an interest in the above Property and are holding themselves out as registered owners and/or persons with a valid legal interest in the Property.

The Company therefore notifies the public that:

1.   any person who purports to dispose of the Property by way of sale, assignment or transfer is liable to be charged and convicted of theft;
2.   the relevant authorities have been notified of these developments; and
3.   any one continuing to deal with these fraudulent individuals does so entirely at their own risk and the resultant agreements and/or arrangements are null and void.

THE Ndengu Revolution roared on yesterday with Governor Kaluki Ngilu launching new tractors to plough farms for vulnerable residents. This brings to 17 the fleet of tractors in the county deployed to help poor farmers prepare their farms ahead of the October - December rains.
Speaking  at Mrs. Makaa Kimanzi’s farm in Malondo village in Mutonguni Ward of Kitui West sub county, Governor Ngilu asked farmers in villages across the county to form committees that will help in identifying poor farmers who would be given priority in the programme.
“While wealthier farmers can access tractor services from private owners, there is need to help the poor actualize food security in the county”, she said.

Governor Kivutha Kibwana has today launched 27,000 Early Childhood Development new curriculum text book at Mavindu primary school, Mbooni subcounty. The textbooks, valued at Sh 6.1 million, will be distributed to 1,350 ECD centres across the county. Governor Kibwana also commissioned two ECD classes at Mavindu ECD centre.
