Man allegedly killed nephew to earn insurance benefit


Man denies murdering
nephew over insurance

 A top insurance executive- Mr Evans Masaku Kasyoki today denied murdering his nephew to earn a Sh 9m insurance claim. The suspect linked to controversial murder of Eric Makau in 2014 appeared before Machakos High Court Judge Justice George Odunga. Mr Kasyoki denied the allegations of killing the late Makau in order to benefit from the life insurance claim.

Last month, Machakos deputy Registra Nelly Kenei had ordered  for accused's medical examination. How ever, the medical report confirmed that the accused of sound mind.

Kasyoki was arrested last month following a long drawn cut and mouse game that culminated in a daring media exposure.

The accused through his lawyer Victor Kariuki made an unsuccessful bail application after the prosecution requested two more days to file their responses, which will be determined on Thursday 20th, September 2018.

In his application , Mr Kariuki argues that the accused is not a flight risk having been in contact with police since 2014 when his nephew was suspiciously killed.
