assents Sh 10.8bn budget

As he signed the appropriation bill, Mutua described it as a people-centred development projects’ budget. “The budget is about changing lives by impacting on the lives of all the people of Machakos County – The Place to Be. This has been a long drawn but efficient process.”, he said
The budget incorporates public views as collected by Members of the County Assembly together with Members of my Government. It's aim is to enhance our development agenda for our people.
The budget approved that the lion’s share- Kes 7.5 billion will go to recurrent expenditure due to huge wage bill and Kes 3.3billion will go to the development vote which accounts of 31 percent of the budget.
Nevertheless, Dr Mutua said he is very proud of this inclusive budget that will see clearing of pending bills, development of water provision, new tarmac roads, improvement of health services and empowering of our youth through training in polytechnics.
The budget will also see provision of electricity to more people, creation of jobs will be achieved through development of Machakos New City and investment programs.
He noted that by his assenting to the law, be becomes the first governor to assent to budget estimates for the next Financial Year. “We aim to roll back poverty and create prosperity in a Maendeleo Chap Chap way too,” he said, adding that it was an action budget.
