Verbatim: Gov.Kibwana wants
audit on Kalonzo leadership
"I agonized on whether I should respond to Peter Mathuki (PM ) and finally decided I should since he is the Defacto Party Spokesman behind the Party Leader.
1. Many of his comments are consistent with some pàrty thinking and culture that the top leadership must never be questioned. Dissenters or those who offer constructive criticism are treated as people who have committed crimes against the apex party bosses.
2. Ì am merely in a moment of reflection about my future relationship with Wiper. Ì am not in self or voluntary exile as suggested by the Party Deoputy Organizing Secretary. Ì have the freedoms of association and expression and cannot be forced to do certain things by Mathuki and company.
3. PM talks about my 'ill intentions' ' pursuit of own political interests within Wiper' ' Upende-Usipende drama' 'hidden agenda' 'disloyalty' etc etc... Some Kenyans have asked me to consider being their presidentiàl candidate. The constitution says in black and white this is in order. Ì don't remember signing anywhere with Wiper that I would not be allowed to do this. Why is Wiper senior party leadership nervous about this? If it is a small fly-type social media drama why fight it with a bulldozer of social media and other arsenal? I never do my political work in the hidden political space. Ì am listening to people from our region and all of Kenya. Ì genuinely believe in public participation. I am honoured that it is Kenyans who are asking me to be part of nationàl leadership in a senior position, while for some of the others they are asking themselves. If Wiper's 2022 crusade is unstoppable I can only be an irritant at best worthy of no serious comment or engagement.
5. PM tells us their party offers genuine and selfless service, indeed servant leadership based on a robust party ideology. Ì am accused of disloyalty, practicioner of self centred politics etc. Ì will let Kenyans judge about this from their knowledge of me. But it would be a good idea for PM to concretely demonstrate how the Wiper Party top leadership including myself have offered servant leadership in Kenya and Ukàmbani and with what tangible results.
6. PM writes I now lack the decency and integrity that I in the past exhibited as a human rights activist. Again I place this accusation before the Kenyan jury.
7. Mathuki argues I opportunistically joined Wiper to secure an easy ride in 2017. He has not revealed that it was Wiper which asked the people of Makueni to release me to it to support Kalonzo's 2017 politics. We met at Kwakathoka and Kambu on two occasions with about 10,000 people in the two occasions to negotiate. However much one tries to rewrite history, history will remain history. Even when the dominant WIPER had used MCAs between 2013-2017 to fight the Muungano minority government, we decided to support SKM's politics at the instigation of our people. In the first meeting they rejected the cooperation with Wiper until SKM had to come to negotiate with us.
8. PM says I tried to fix all my people into places within the county assembly I guess. PM should have a fresh look at the MoU between WIPER & MUUNGANO. Ì never asked for anything more than was agreed in that MoU. Unfortunately most of what we agreed was never honoured by Wiper. And unfortunately PM was a key architect of torpedoing the MoU. Ì ask PM to post the MoU in the social media.
9. PM suggests I have 'masters' whom I am working with to destabilize SKM's presidentiàl bid. And that I am inciting the people of Makueni and by extension Ukàmbani against SKM. My masters are the people of Makueni, and Kenya.
10. PM says I have the constitutional option to leave Wiper. It is true I am doubtful Wiper can be reformed from within. Since SKM appointed me he can, if he wishes, reverse his decision. Ì am a WIPER party member whose roots are in knowledge work, pro-democracy activism, Muungano, NARC & PNU. Again the requisite Wiper organ has the right to expel me from the party if they have a lawful reason for that.
11. PM states that they will closely monitor and oversight our development work in Makuèni to ensure service delivery. Although we are a Wiper county, the Party has never come to Makueni to take stock of the development work happening there. Of course I understand this statement to be a not too veiled threat that the Party will destabilize the county in the same way as is happening in Kitui and Maçhakos though some senior Wiper politicians. Ì invite Mathuki and others to come to Makueni. The people will defend their gains. It will not be easy to destabilize us a second time.
12. Mathuki and others should know that Ukàmbani needs a serious meeting of its leaders and people to take stock regarding what the leadership of SKM from 2004 after Mzee MUTISYA MULU's demise has achieved for us from the nàtionàl level? Other communities have caused transitions in community leadership when necessary. Ì hope my request for stock-taking and accountability is not taken as a ploy to undermine SKM. People are governed through their consent in democracies.
13. Ì invite Mathuki & other Wiper leaders to ask and wonder: Why did Musila, Hassan Omar, Kiema, Mutambu, Munuve, and a large number of others leave ODM-K and Wiper leave the parties? They can't all be wrong?
In conclusion Mathuki made a comment through social media, and I have answered through the same social media to respect his stature in the Party. However I would like to inform Mathuki that he has contributed to many problems in the Party but that is a story for another time. But please Mr Mathuki release the MoU between WIPER & MUUNGANO so that our pèople can judge the genesis of some of our differences.
