Kitui conducts first brain surgery








Kitui Referral  Hospital performs
successful, historic brain surgery

Kitui County under the leadership of Governor Charity Ngilu, has made a ground-breaking with the first ever successful brain surgery. The surgery, performed  last Friday, was to remove a blood clot in the brain of the patient, who was to unable to raise funds to get it done at Kenyatta Hospital.

Dr Samuel Njiru, a Neurosurgeon led a battery of highly skilled, motivated and hardworking staff of the Kitui County Referral Hospital, which comprised of Doctors, Anaesthetists,nurses among others, in the two hour operation.

An elated  Governor Ngilu said at the hospital: " I am very happy that in Kitui County, we have a theatre  with the equipment needed to conduct such a Surgery, what we need is just to engage the professionals." Then she invoked her clarion call: "Ni Mbee Nzei, Kitui Forward Sasa.

Governor Ngilu  was visiting  the  patient to wish him quick recovery and is showing great  progress in his recovery. 

Mrs Ngilu’s administration has entered into a partnership with VIRION Health Limited, a leading consortium of medical practitioners for the provision of advanced medical consultancy and treatment to local residents.

Healthcare provision is the   second pillar of Mrs Ngilu's manifesto, and she has allocated 2.9 Billion to the Health Ministry.

She will be launching the Kitui County Health Insurance Cover on August 21 as she marks her first anniversary in office.
