Free Medical Camps

Over 400 people were today treated at a free medical camp at Kanyaa and Kakululo in Migwani in Partnership with University of Nairobi and Mwlngi KMTC. The medical camp was organized by proffesionals from the area. They were backed up by the County Government of Kitui's Mobile Clinic Service as a goodwill gesture during Easter Holiday.

Charcoal Ban: Kitui court fines Six drivers

SIX Charcoal dealers were today fined a total of Sh. 300,000 by a Kitui Court for transporting charcoal in defiance of an existing ban.

Road Safety
The government of Makueni has in partnership with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) unveiled a County Transport and Safety Committee.
The committee will be responsible for:
overseeing the management and regulation of the road transport system within with the county
Facilitate the education of members of the public on road safety.
In consultation with the county government and NTSA, develop and implement county specific road safety strategies and programmes to reduce road crashes, road deaths and injuries.
In consultation with relevant departments within the county develop a framework for post-crash care including pre-hospital care and para medical services especially in crash prone spots and areas.
Recommend to the county government on the legislative and administrative improvements needed to improve road transport and safety in the county.
The committee was inaugurated by Governor Kivutha Kibwana and NTSA deputy director, safety strategies and County Coordination Dr.Duncan Kibogog.
The committee is necessitated by the realization that Makueni is among the top five counties with high fatalities, which stood at 148 in 2017.
