KITUI Governor Kaluki Ngilu has made a decisive step to revive the couty's garment industry and place young people on the road to wealth creation.The ambitious plan specifically targets the young people providing training, equipment and financial support to local garment makers.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has mourned a form 1 student of St Charles Lwanga High School who died last weeek. The governor drove to the school in her neighborhood  yesterday to join the school community to  mourn the student,  Master Alex Kunzu, who hails from Nuu in Mwingi Central. 
Speaking to students and staff in an extra-ordinary assembly, Governor  Ngilu  said  it is very  unfortunate that the County  had lost such  a promising bright boy in whom his family and community had big hopes. She however  encouraged the school fraternity to be strong enough to bear the loss, and be on their toes to give their best in academics. 
She told her audience that healthcare which forms the second Pillar of her manifesto is set for unprecedented  improvement.  "For the first time in history, Kitui Referral hospital has all the equipment needed for various diagnosis, ranging from Ultra sound CT scanners , Ex-Ray and ECG (Electro cardiography) machines,all procured by my administration", she said. The equipment will be used in Kitui Referral Hospital that the school  has chosen as their prefered facility for treatment. The Governor said no one should travel far distances to seem treatment  as they used to.
The school's Principal Mr Simon Njagi expressed their gratitude to the Governor  for visiting to grieve with the school,saying a friend in need is a friend indeed.
 Njagi added that the school has adopted her phrase, *Kitui mbee nzei* and is even putting the boys in a forward move. 
 He said the boy will be buried on Tuesday in Mwingi central.

Governor Kaluki Ngilu today appointed a new minister to the Kitui County Executive Committee.  Mr Benard Katungi was sworn into office as  County Executive  Committee Member for Public Service Management  and Administration, in the Office of the Governor.

 new health staff and Equipment

KITUI Governor Kaluki Ngilu today commissioned equipment and staff to reinforce service provision and deliver her healthcare manifesto pledge to Kitui people. The Governor released 322 new staff into the workforce to serve in various health facilities in the county. The health workers of different cadres include 3 Cuban doctors, 196 nurses, 70 clinical officers, 24 nutritionists, 13 orthopaedic trauma practitioners, 13 laboratory radiographers and 13 health administrators.

Nasa Luminaries Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka today praised Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu’s pet project the Ndengu Revolution as a game changer towards food security and wealth creation for farmers in the county.The two leaders said the project was well thought out and ideal food production initiative that could generate billions of shillings in returns to the people of Kitui County besides provision of ample food supplies.

FORMER Prime Minister Raila Odinga today pitched the case for India to import green grams from Kenya. Speaking during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Mr Odinga urged the Prime Minister fo India to consider importing at least 100,000 metric tonnes of Ndengu from Kenya annually to save Kenyan farmers who had grown the cereal targeting exporting it to India.

Kibwana hands Motorbikes to 
boost Community Health Program

The Community Health Service in Makueni has received a major boost after governor Kivutha Kibwana handed 45 motorbikes to the health volunteers. This brings to 137 the number of motor bikes under the programme and will be used by at least 110 Community Health Units across the county to promote primary health care.
