sign data deal

Makueni County today signed a deal with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) to to guide on collection and use of county statistics.





The agreement provides for a joint mechanism for statistical development and coordination for data collection, analysis, dissemination, statistical advocacy and exchange of information.
The partnership was signed by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and KNBS Director General Macdonald Obudho on Monday in Wote. On its part, KNBS will support and work with the county to establish a statistical system that is aligned to the National Statistical System as well as support in the development of GMC statistical strategies and policies.
The statistics agency will also support Makueni County in training workshops, exchange programs and specialized components such as survey design, data collection, data processing, analysis, storage and archiving to strengthen the quality of the data to ensure it meets the appropriate national and international standards.
KNBS has previously supported the county in the development of the County Statistical Abstract 2022 which was launched by Governor Mutula last month. The signing of the partnership also cements the parties’ engagement.
The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Makueni County Commissioner Ms Beverly Opwora , Makueni Finance Executive Damaris Kavoi and other staff from the two parties.
