Kitui County’s 6 billion
Housing tenders opened

Engineer Jacob Kakundi

Lihud Minister Engineer Jacob Kakundi says the project answers Governor Charity Ngilu’s quest for affordable housing for Kitui people, which is also aligned to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s agenda 4.  “About six weeks ago, we advertised for interested developers to bid for this ambitious project after a successful Bidders Conference. We are all set to take this plan to the next level”, Mr Kakundi said
Bidders are competing for the construction of 2,000 housing units that include residential and office blocks in three locations within Kitui municipality. The government intends to construct three modern estates on three sites- 2 acres at Manyenyoni, 2.5 acres at California and another 4.5 acres opposite Tanathi Building.
The County Government will provide land and the requisite Infrastructure while the successful developer will provide the expertise involved in construction work. Once complete, the units will be offered for sale to local people under a framework that is still being worked out.
