The permanent stone wall houses complete with a toilet and water tank were handed over by Habitat for Humanity Chief Executive Jonathan Reckford in a ceremony graced by Machakos County governor Wavinya Ndeti, her Deputy Mr Francis Mwangangi among other officials from the county government and the International organization. The houses are part of a housing programme aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals unable to afford decent housing due to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic that has caused increased joblessness.
Sixty more residents of Machakos County will benefit from the housing programme within this year, Mr Reckford revealed. According to the programme, individuals provide land where the Habitat for Humanity organization constructs the houses.
