Kes 1.5 b set aside
to resolve old debts

The county government of Kitui will spend Kes. 1.5 billion to settle the county debt owed by suppliers and contractors by June this year. According the county governor Dr. Julius Malombe all the genuine contracts will be paid .
He made the assurance in his office today shortly after receiving a report from the taskforce he had appointed to investigate the challenges facing his county government.
He said there are some contractors who had done work for the county since the county governments came into existence but noted they will duly be paid.
