Police in Matungulu Sub-county, are holding four men in connection with the kidnapping of a three-year-old child who had gone missing from his home at Nguluni trading centre on Sunday last week.
Mr Omondi added that the three-year old boy was on Sunday playing with his father's casual worker Stephen Mutuku .
They were spotted outside the hardware shop of the boy's father Harrison Kioko at Nguluni trading centre.He failed to return home.
The police boss said his parents panicked when the boy failed to show up at home and reported the matter to the police and the search begun.
"At about 4pm on Sunday the casual worker Mutuku send a text message to the child's father telling him that he had abducted his son and if he wanted released, he should pay a ransom of Sh70,000
Police however managed to trace the phone to Nairobi area were the casual worker and other three suspects were caught hiding while issuing ransom demands. They were all arrested and the child was rescued in good health.
He said the investigations are ongoing.The police boss said the four suspects are in police custody and will be charged in Court to face charges of kidnapping.
The police boss urged residents in the region to verify backgrounds of people before employing them in order to avoid such incidents.
