Kes. 1bn funding plan
Kitui, Thursday, January 26, 2023
The fourth phase of the quarterly review meetings on the Joint Work Plan (JWP) between the County Government of Kitui and USAID kicked off yesterday at a Kitui hotel.
The workshop, which brought together USAID's implementing partners Resilient Learning Activity (RLA), 4 better Health Program, USAID Advancing Nutrition, World Food Program (WFP), World Vision and Afya Ugavi reflected on the progress made on the 2021/2022 financial year joint work plan for the period between October and December 2022.
The meeting also discussed viable action plans to be undertaken so as to guarantee successful implementation of projects and programs covered under the current joint work plan which Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, and USAID's Chief of Party for RLA Mr. James Flock signed on December 6, 2022.
Under the Sh.1,110,593,444 joint implementation arrangement, the County Government of Kitui and USAID will contribute Sh.742,436,564 and Sh.368,156,880 respectively.
The "pause-and-reflect" meetings aim at facilitating the co-implementation and joint monitoring of development initiatives to streamline identification of priority areas and avoid wastage of financial resources via duplication of projects.
Among the key areas covered by the JWP are initiatives that fall under the sectors of Agriculture, Water and Livestock, Trade, Industry, MSMEs, Innovation and Cooperatives, Education, Training and Skills Development, Finance, Revenue Management & Economic planning, Governance, Culture, Gender, Youth, Sports, ICT and Social Services.
For the past two years, USAID has been working closely with the County Government of Kitui towards bettering the livelihoods of Kitui citizenry through locally sustained results.
