Girls' Schools in Machakos County recorded a significant improvement compared to Boys' Schools in the just released 2022 KCSE exams.
In Kathiani subcounty Kathiani Girls High school posted a mean grade of 9.12 with the top student, scoring an A plain of 82 points while in Machakos Subcounty Machakos School posted a performance index of 8.0 with only one student managing to score an A.
Their neighbours, Machakos Girls, posted a sterling performance in this years KCSE after gannering a mean grade of 7.1 with the school producing 5 A-'s.
In Kangundo subcounty, St. Francis Misyani girls will send 201 students to University who attained a university entry mark. The school produced a mean grade of 7.4 with the top student Agnes Mueni Nzivu who was also the second student in the subcounty scoring an A plain of 81points.
In Makueni county, Mbooni Girls posted a mean of 8.9 with 201 candidates out of the total 214 proceeding to the university.
Other schools with an upward mobility significance are Mumbuni Girls where for the fisrt time since inception of the school in 2005,They managed an A with the principal Karen Karuntimi revealing that most of the top performers in this school came from humble backgrounds which challanged them to work hard.
In an interview with The Anchor immediately after receiving the results, she pointed out that the school produced more than 50 students with the university entry mark.
While releasing the results Cabinet Cs Ezekiel Machogu revealed that male students outshined their female counterparts which according to Mrs.Karuntimi could be attributed to Girls having an attitude towards science related subjects however, they performed better in languages.
