Endless motorcycle carnage

Three people among them, a Form Four Student died on the spot on Tuesday, when their motorbike lost control and hit a lorry along Tala -Nairobi road in Matungulu Sub-county.
Area police boss Peter Omondi yesterday said the rider of the motorbike,which was heading towards Nairobi road from Tala town ,at around 2 pm lost control of the bike and crashed into the oncoming lorry heading to Tala from Nairobi.
"On reaching Koma rock shrine area, the rider of the motorbike lost control and collided head-on with the lorry belonging to Coca Cola company. As a result, the rider, his passengers among them Form Four Student from Muindi Mbingu Secondary School died on the spot," said Mr Omondi, adding that an investigation was under way.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Kangundo level Four Hospital Mortuary.
The police boss also called on motorists to exercise extra care while on the road and always follow traffic rules so as to reduce loss of lives through accidents.
"I am warning those breaking traffic rules that they will be arrested and prosecuted before any fatalities occur because it is unacceptable that so many innocent lives are cut short on our roads," he said.
Mr Omondi said no effort will be spared in ensuring all road users adhere to the various safety regulations to reduce road accidents.
