as board takes office

MAKUENI County today established the Emali- Sultan Hamud Municipality, becoming the second municipality in the county.
Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. witnessed the swearing of 8 members of the Municipality .Th e first board-the Wote Municipality board was established by the Former Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
Mutula, who spearheaded the formation of the Sultan Hamud Municipality after taking office termed Emali as the county's largest revenue centre due to its strategic location along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway and the gateway to Tanzania through the Loitokitok border .
Mutula reiterated that his government's committment to promote Emali as Makueni's commercial hub, while Wote remains the administrative Capital of Makueni.
Governor Mutula confirmed the Emali-Sultan Hamud Municipality shall get infrastructure funding from the Kenya Urban Support program (KUSP) as it has been approved.
He added that the two levels of government are developing a second Nolturesh Bulk Water supply line from Kilimamjaro which shall guarantee uninterrupted water supply to the new municipality.
The board members who were sworn in are; Anne Nduku Muthusi, Charles Mutua Musau, Dominic Mbevi Matheka, Arch. Stanley Mwania Kyalo, Anderson Masila Matheka, Mary Nduku Muthama , Dr. Sonnia Nzilani Musyoka (CEC- Lands and Urban Planning) and Jackson Charo Daudi (Chief Officer Lands and Urban Planning).
